Guides & tips for your Winter Sports Insurance

Check if the policy you have provides cover for your intended ski activity as there may be certain activities that are not covered such as heli-skiing.

Always have a note of your travel insurance policy number and emergency number with you, maybe in your mobile phone. It's recommended that more than one person has these details as well if travelling in a group or as a family.

Always follow local security rules on, for instance, wearing helmets and do's and don'ts for pistes or snowboarding parks.

Look after your ski equipment – if you leave it in an unattended vehicle, for example, it may mean you are uninsured, and if your equipment is stolen you will need a police report in order to claim, and always keep receipts where appropriate.

If you booked your own holiday, instead of through a travel agency, see if your travel insurance cover is comprehensive enough and covers for delayed departure or additional accommodation if you are unable to get home.

When purchasing your travel insurance, double-check the maximum period on the winter sports cover – different limits may apply depending on the policy type selected.
